Green Events

Life should be celebrated whether it is a wedding, anniversary, birthday or corporate event. However when we celebrate these, we can create a lot of waste, use many resources and make an impact on our local ecology.

It is possible to have a celebration that makes a great impression on the guests while making a much smaller impact on the environment. The concepts of reuse, renew and recycle can be applied to your next event in a few simple ways. The end result will be a wonderful celebration for you at the same time you can do a good turn for the earth.

Here are a few tips to have a more sustainable event:

· Use rental (reusable) items instead of buying new.

· Consider asking your floral vendor to use local, in season flowers and use your arrangements twice - once at your ceremony and then move them to your reception. This will save you money and reuse your arrangements.

· Register with an environmentally friendly organization so your guests can donate to a “green” cause of your choice instead of doing gifts.

· Try to use local vendors whenever possible to reduce your carbon footprint caused by shipping items long distance.
